Pacific Valve Audio gd PS 2 Solid State Preamp
Product Details
Our first solid state preamp, the Audio gd P-2 has 5 RCA inputs, 2 RCA outputs, remote
and digital volume control with memory. Quality R-Core transformers and a complex
stabilized voltage power supply.
The front panel display, which is a high cost LED display to reduce electro magnetic
interference (as opposed to the traditional vacuum fluorescent displays) shows input and
volume selection. The Audio gd P-2 has a memory function where the microprocessor
can “learn” your personal settings and remember them when turned on. The volume
control can also be tailored and set for “stepped” volume control for a 70 or 99 count for
those of your that like the gain set a “10 o’clock” position. This type of volume control
also doubled to reduce distortion that is introduced from traditional volume controls.
Using a modular voltage gain technology, the Pacific Valve & Electric Co. version is hand-
tailored to sound like our upscale tube preamps: a wide, open dynamic sound that pushes
vocalists and instruments into the center of the room with ease.
The P-2 has many features that cannot be found at a preamp at this price point. For
example, the ground rail to the other inputs is muted to the main gain stage to prevent
distortion and unnecessary “cross talk” between inputs. A stepped digital volume control
is used for perfect matching.
