Pacific Valve Audio gd FUN DAC
Product Details
Successor the famous Compass DAC, the FUN preamp / headphone amplifier surpasses the
Compass sonically and feature wise with high / low gain switch, line out and line input selector and
input selector. The front panel sports a power indicator and Neutrik headphone jack.
The FUN uses DC servo circuits fed off of 5 independent power supply units to keep offsets at zero so
no coupling caps are used in the signal path. Dale and Vishay resistors are used throughout as well
as Audio gd’s signature OP AMPs (Pacific Valve version only). Capacitors are the British Nover or the
audiophile EVOX. 24K gold plated jacks, an ALPS volume pot, and Toshiba and Hitachi transistors
complete the package.
The back of the unit has USB, Coax and optical inputs plus Line in, Line Out, DAC out (for no volume
control circuit), and IEC plug.
Pacific Valve offers two versions of the FUN, one is a standard basic “A” version, and one is a Pacific
Valve pre-configured “A” version. The Pacific Valve version uses the AD1852, DIR9001, and FET
Output Buffers. This configuration offered better sonic balance and presentation throughout the
frequency spectrum. For more information on these versions, see our “water cooler talk” on this page.
Note: Pacific Valve does not provide service on products purchased directly from China.
